Build Safer Shooting Habits

At DOWNRANGE 31 LLC, we provide firearms and emergency preparedness training focused on safe handling, responsible decision-making, and practical skills for real-world situations. Led by Chris Clarke, Owner and Lead Instructor, our instruction draws on nearly 17 years of professional experience with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), where he advanced into specialized instructional roles involving firearms, officer safety, tactical applications, and range operations.

Through his experience as a Rangemaster, Firearms Instructor, Chemical Agent Instructor, Impact Munitions Instructor, Weapons Retention Instructor, and Use of Force Instructor, Chris brings extensive knowledge of firearms safety, defensive tactics, weapons handling, and stress-based decision-making. His credentials include NRA instructor certifications in Pistol, Rifle, Concealed Carry, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, and Chief Range Safety Officer, along with California Department of Justice Firearms Instructor and CCW Instructor certifications.

Our training includes CCW Permit Classes, CCW Permit Prep, Firearms Safety Training, Gun Safety Classes, Handgun Safety Courses, Pistol Training Courses, Defensive Pistol Training, and Defensive Shooting Courses. Combining classroom instruction with live-fire training, we provide structured guidance for beginner-friendly classes and students at all skill levels, keeping range safety central to the learning process.

Emergency preparedness is also part of our instruction, extending beyond firearm proficiency to include CPR, First Aid, AED, and Stop the Bleed training. With certifications through HSI and USCCA, we help students develop practical emergency response skills, situational awareness, and responsible personal protection habits.

Whether you're a first-time gun owner preparing for your CCW or an experienced shooter seeking additional defensive instruction, we adapt our guidance to your experience and training goals. At DOWNRANGE 31, we believe preparedness means knowing how to respond when circumstances change, and our mission is clear: Control The Chaos. Be Ready.
